COSMIC Long-Term Thematic Project – Complex Organoid Systems with Multifaceted Interactions

The COSMIC Long-Term Thematic Project (PTL) is dedicated to the development and optimization of new advanced experimental models, including organoids, multi-organ-on-a-chip systems, and synthetic cells and tissues. Its goal is to transform translational research in health and life sciences by providing alternatives to animal models and developing systems that more accurately reflect physiological conditions.

The objectives of the PTL are to:

  • Developing advanced cellular models: enhancing the complexity and maturation of organoids by incorporating, for example, immune cells, endothelial cells, or nerve cells.
  • Creating multi-organ-on-a-chip models: studying systemic interactions.
  • To bring together local expertise and foster collaboration; to encourage interdisciplinary collaboration .
  • Accelerate translational research: strengthen collaborations with university hospitals (CHUs, IHUs), technology platforms, and industry partners.

The PTL aims to organize the local health and life sciences sector by creating a network of collaborations among researchers across the seven research areas of the Health and Life Sciences Cluster.
